Swim east of Volcano Town and climb down to the island. Stand in cubbyhole and climb up to see the Griffon.

Griffon casts Icestorm and claws you. Kill it for a +3 silver Longsword and tan its hide for Griffon armor. To get down, jump off (arrow keys).
