Category: Guide | Region: Cobrahn | Difficulty: Intermediate
A community-compiled guide to the Undead City dungeon levels. Information from Ren, Ztinktoof, Watcher, Thundar, Mihey, Demonaic, and Tranquil. Original thread started by Rasker.
General Tips
All rooms are twiggable; anything outside rooms is not (—Mihey)
Bring at least two psi-cutters, preferably three
You NEED anti-stun: a healer in the party or a ninghi helm
Cobrahn prot-stun twigs start failing on UC2
IV or a ment in the party for visibility
Coin, gems and experience are very good on all levels
UC1
Enemies: Quaz (hide, thrown daggers), Mummy (GS), Rada (hand)\
Psi Attacks: Assault, Enmiss, Darkness
A relatively easy level to start with basic gear, though you need psi-cutters for the constant pecking. Familiarize yourself with UC1 before progressing.
2 places on this level commonly have Quaz — stay away from them
Quaz take a while to hit but can one-shot smaller players
Rarely, a non-Quaz crit can hit for 700-900 (very rare on UC1)
With kaldor robes and a cutter, you'll be fine
Excellent place for quick experience for smaller players
UC2
Enemies: Pumped versions of UC1 critters\
Psi Attacks: Add BIG stun to the list
Stay away from blobs — level 18 PS rings are useless against their stun
Radas are tougher to hit
Quaz hit harder with daggers and can one-shot most players with a proning hit
2-3 Quaz commonly regen around the green rectangle in SE corner
The shield house is a safe house and twiggable
Shield house: Trade for +100 and +200 shields
Very nice gold and random treasure
UC3
Enemies: Even bigger versions\
Psi Attacks: Add Charm, Scare, Espear. Blobs mend themselves.
For advanced to moderately advanced players. Even with psi-crush gear, espear protection, and anti-stun, most will find it challenging.
Very interesting graphics
Tremendous gold and decent skill
Quaz can one-shot many players if proned + backstabbed
UC3.5
Same as UC3 but in bigger numbers.
First area has no psi, just physical — not very rough
Kills give 51k+ exp each without tons of HP
Square area has rooms with specific crit types (Blobs, Umbers, Quaz, etc.)
UC4
Pumped versions of UC3 critters with very beefy damage. Comparable to KM-4 of Cobrahn.
Radas will deplete your disciplines on contact
Not recommended solo unless at the highest sizes
Psi crush, Charm, EC, Espear, and lots of nasty spells
Best with a party
UC5
Possibly the toughest dungeon in the game.
Everything that can happen, happens here:
Earthcrush, PSI-CRUSH, Charm, Stun, Paralyze, Espear, Blind, Dark
Huge Radablackbelts that prone and pummel you
Mummies that can one-shot you
Very tough Skeletons
Multiple attack types at once from groups
UC5 also contains several quests and dungeons with lair crits. Think of it as having “roaming lair critters.”
Firestorm Bracers
FS bracers become more powerful with each dungeon level:
UC1 bracers: protect 100 FS damage
UC3.5 bracers: protect ~300 FS damage
Give UC1 bracers to small healers — FS is much better skill than EC, ages less, and does more damage per EP for smaller healers
Two Guntver robes stack for ~20 EP regen; each is a psi-cutter
Improva Quest
On UC1: Obtain the 4 elemental scrolls to improve a forged weapon.
