Beginner Tips:
* Take some time to read the help Manual because it will save you some confusion early on. You can download the Manual here
* Set some time aside when rolling your character. Reroll until you get 17's or 18's in Charisma and Luck as these two stats are very hard to raise later in the game. City Dwellers have a good chance to get these high numbers usually.
* Your main character should be named the same as your chat name so people can send you private messeges and find you easier.
* Socializing is a big part of any online RPG game and Kingdom of Drakkar is no exception. No one likes beggers, so if your new to Drakkar just ask nicely and most people will be willing to get you starter gear and answer questions. Ask questions in chat channel 00 or in the Steel Flower inn also known as “SF”.
* First thing you need to do is “Dedicate” to a trainer of your choosing ie .Fighter, Mentalist, Healer, Thief. This means finding the trainer and clicking on his tag. Then clicking on the “Dedicate” button. This indoctrinates you into your chosen profession. you can also come back to your trainer to pay for Skill training (Which is very important ), Class training to get new skills or spells and lastly to Assess Skill shows your current percentage in skill ie. 94% means you have 6% till next skill level.
Most magical items will “tie” to the first player to pick it up. If the item is “Tied” to another player it is useless to you anyways and you cannot even sell it. So be careful of what you pick up off the ground especially in the Steel Flower inn. You may see a nice looking shield or Axe, but please ask around before taking it. Don't loot someone else's kill if they are hunting in the same area as you. Just move to a different area and hunt there.
“PKing” or Player Killing is strickly forbidden, but note Thieves can steal from you and if you detect them, they get flagged red for doing a Hostile action. Normally Thieves only steal from Hostile monsters. Attack only hostile creatures with “RED” tags and don't ever attack town NPCs unless you want to get attacked everytime your in town. Killing “BLUE” tagged NPCs will give you evil alignment and you will have to get a healer to attone you in order to reverse the alignment change.
Learn to use Succor scrolls. Succor scrolls can be bought in the hidden thieves guild store, Nork town and guild hall stores. These are scrolls which give you the “Succor” discipline, which basically lets you teleport back to the place where you formed the “Succor” discipline and made a “Succor” Twig. Hold the “Succor” scroll in your right hand and press the “Succor” button, this will turn the scroll into a twig. This allows you to teleport back to the spot where you made the twig. Some places in Drakkar don't allow the formation of “Succor” twigs. Practice this life saving and time saving procedure until you understand it fully. Always have a twig hot button on your main bar so you can “Twig Out” in an emergency. I set my main twig to a store and have one for the current dungeon I'm in. To twig maually just left click on twig, drag to the ground and drop.
Buy healing potions from the store in the top North West corner of Nork for 20gp each and these will heal up to about 70 hps. You can buy IHs ( Instant Heals ) for 500 gps regular store or 350gp in guild halls and these heal you fully up to within a few of your max hit points. Use them with your “Drink” button when needed. Please don't leave empty bottles on the ground. The “Drink” button will take one health potion from your backpack, open it, drink it and break the bottle. Be careful with finding open bottles on the floor of dungeons because people have been known to fill bottles with water from the “FATE” pools. Drinking water from the “FATE” pools can harm or help your character permanently so it is very dangerous and not recommended.
Print out maps of the area you will be hunting in if you can find them as these will help you get familiar with areas quicker. Learn the different acronyms like N-1 (Nork negative 1), M-1 (Maeling negative 1), KM-1 (King Minotar negative 1).
