Nork Dungeons

Beneath the town of Nork lies an extensive network of dungeon levels. Gain entrance through the stairs at the Last Chance Saloon, or by the stairs west of Hector the Ring Trader near the Portals. Entrance can also be gained by going down the hole south of the East Bank.

Nork -1

The first dungeon level. Access via the Last Chance Saloon stairs, west of Hector the Ring Trader, or down the hole south of the East Bank (Door/Blast/Illusion the wall). Good starting area for new adventurers.

Creatures: Orcs (45-55 XP), Goblins (20-30 XP), Trolls (190-250 XP), Rockman (90-110 XP)

Lair – Goblin Lord: South area behind a locked door. Find a key randomly from killing goblins. Drops amethyst gem and a key. Minor lair, not an eater.

Drops: Leather armor, chain mail, plate mail, iron helms, leather rings, wool cloaks, iron weapons, wooden bows, crossbows, scrolls, grenades, mend pots, cure poison pots, 2-bird con pots


Nork -2

Good spot to find +2 defense helms. Increased difficulty over N-1. Red hexes lead down to N-3, green hexes lead up to N-1.

Creatures: Orcs, Goblins, Trolls, Rockman (130-150 XP), Ogres (300-350 XP), Troglodytes (200-210 XP)

Lair – Lizard King: Casts fireball, hits with mace for 30 damage. Drops a doll (take to Annalie for +1 con), a shield, and a level 4 fire/ice ring. Not an eater.


Nork -3

First time encountering the Mummy King and harder creatures. Requires 25 fire and ice protection minimum – Sanquin armor and fire bracers are sufficient. Be careful in the southwest area which has N-4 level crits.

Creatures: Sanquin (240-260 XP, tan for scales), Hobgoblins (240-250 XP), Trolls (240-260 XP), Lizardmen (fireball, 200-220 XP), Ogres (1,200 XP), Troglodytes (800-900 XP), Thumpers (900-1,100 XP), Mummies (1,200-1,500 XP, tan for cloak), Stunners (1,000-1,100 XP)

Lair – Mummy King: East side behind double locked doors. Find key randomly on N-3. Hits with weapon for 40+ damage. Tan for mummy cloak (trades for protstun amulet). Not an eater.

Drops: Iron greatswords, 3-bird con pots, protfire pots, protice pots, cure blind pots


Nork -3.5

Nork -3.5 – includes Urmak's Boat to Aleria and access to the Ghost Lair.

Special level between -3 and -4. Home to the RatBurrow sash quest and several major lairs. Find 4 items on this level to obtain the sash. Contains Spider Queen Lair (NE corner), Dark Guard Lair (SW corner), and Sanquin Eggs near the Dark Guard.

Lair – Minotaur: Through the prisons then into a secret wall. Hits with axe for 40-60 damage (120 proned). Drops Mino axe which trades for +4 hally. Not an eater.

Lair – Naga: South of Minotaur entrance. Bites (poisons), casts darkness, 60-80 damage, 150 proned. 25,000 XP. Requires statue from Prisons -1 to enter. IS AN EATER.

Lair – Ghost: Claws, can hide. Drops random ghost pearl (trades for Muzi). Not really a lair – found in only one spot. Not an eater.


Nork -4

You must be level 10 to use the hole down to the lower Nork dungeons (-4 through -11).

Big zoos of creatures. First area with serious stunner presence. Stun protection is essential from this point forward.

Creatures: Sanquin, Hobgoblins, Trolls (2,100-2,400 XP – much stronger here), Lizardmen, Ogres, Troglodytes, Thumpers, Mummies, Stunners, Named NPCs (1,100-1,500 XP, can cast poison)

Drops: Glowing combat helms (first appearance), combat boots, mountain climbing boots, wool sashes, poison pots


Nork -5

Excellent hunting ground with good potion regeneration. Level 10-13 players are fine here with a Rack Coat. East side is called the “Haunted area.” Notable for the Fire Room, Red Dragon lair, store, and Roc lair.

Main Area Creatures: Gargoyles (2,000 XP), Fiends (2,000 XP), Lurkers (1,900-2,100 XP), Rakshasa (cast assault, 2,000-2,100 XP), Ogres (900-1,200 XP), Thumpers (1,300-1,500 XP), Stunners (1,000-1,100 XP), Named NPCs (1,100-7,200 XP), Magic Named NPCs (cast stun/enmiss/assault, 3,100-7,200 XP)

Secret Area (N of stairs): Berserkers (2,500-3,000 XP), Skeletons (2,000-3,000 XP), Gnolls (1,800-2,000 XP)

Lair – Red Dragon: Fire Room with teleport hex in the southwest. Need protfire amulet equipped. Claws and firebreath, 100-150 damage, 200-450 proned. 30-35K XP. Drops RD scales, fire amulet, gauntlet, sometimes major con. IS AN EATER.

Lair – Roc: Secret area, requires key. Claws, 40-60 damage, charges. Drops Roc egg (trades for poison bow).

Drops: Respirate helms, combat/defence rings, protfire rings, gold bracers, fireprot bracers, pointy yellow pots (HP pots), majors, agility/intelligence/wisdom pots


Nork -6

Stun protection essential. Biggest zoos in the south, or middle if entering from NE steps in N-5. Contains stunning healers. Firestorm Dragon lair in the southeast corner.

Creatures: Named NPCs (2,200-12,000 XP), Magic Named NPCs (4,500-12,500 XP, cast stun/enmiss/assault)

Lair – Firestorm Red Dragon: Southeast corner – blow up corner wall to find stairs leading up. Casts firestorm, 200-250 damage, hits harder than normal RD. 30-50K XP. Drops fireprot amulet, gauntlet, sometimes major. Tan for scales with firestorm protection. IS AN EATER.

Drops: Iron maces, steel shields, strength pots, youth pots


Nork -7

Not a place for newbies. Excellent area for finding pots when properly equipped. With the right gear, any paladin with multistrike can own N-7. Three major lairs: Smasher (SE), Slicer (E), and Red Dragon (W).

Special Features:

Lair – Slicer: East side. Hits with greatsword or longsword for 200+ damage, multiple auto-heals. 1,200-1,300K XP. Drops Slicer longsword or greatsword, untied SD scales. Zoo of stunners and earth crush users around lair. Not an eater.

Lair – Smasher: Southeast. Hits with mace for 200+ damage, casts darkness. Drops +7 glowing mace, charisma ring, steel shield. Not an eater.

Lair – Red Dragon: West side behind secret door. Same as N-5 RD. IS AN EATER.


Nork -8

Dangerous level. Home to Mama Naga and Reggies. Be very careful down here.

Lair – Four N-8 Nagas: Claws, cast darkness. ARE EATERS.

Lair – Mama Naga: Bites, claws, casts darkness, stun, and poisons. Multiple psi attacks including psicrush and charm. 650K XP. Tan for Mama Naga armor/scales. IS AN EATER.

Lair – Reggie: Claws, uses psicrush, charm, mindwipe. Autoheals himself. 1,600K XP. Drops 10-charge psi-mirror scroll, tan for Reggie cloak. IS AN EATER.

Deep level of the Nork dungeons. Maps by Jinx (BORED). Less documented than upper levels – a frontier for experienced groups.


Nork -10

Home to the Wardens. These creatures suck exp and skill when they hit you, and you lose HP if you die to them. Kill a Warden for its heart, which can be traded in N-9 for Excalibur or a lightning hammer.

Creatures: Wardens (bite, suck exp/skill, on-contact psimirror)

Drops: Warden heart (trades for Excalibur or lightning hammer)

Warning: Archives say: “STAY AWAY.”


Nork -11

The deepest documented Nork dungeon level. Extremely dangerous. Has a connection to the Cobrahn area.
