Outcasts, as the name applies, are shunned by most other races. Long ago a mark was placed upon every Outcast's face so that all might know to avoid them, but everyone has mellowed with the passage of time. The legends imply that the reason for this marking goes back to the days when the Drakkar's power was great, and mortal traitors bent to her will. Outcasts' strengths and weaknesses have long been hidden by their secretive and solitary existence, but they are rumored to have great strength but little luck.
Outcasts have the most extreme stat distribution of any race. They can roll 19 in three physical stats — Strength, Agility, and Constitution — but pay for it with the second-lowest Charisma cap in the game at 16.
| Stat | Cap | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| STR | 19 | Exceeds stat pot cap of 18 |
| AGI | 19 | Exceeds stat pot cap of 18 |
| CON | 19 | Exceeds stat pot cap of 18 |
| CHA | 16 | Two below standard; significant training cost penalty |
| All others | 18 | Standard caps |
Since stat pots only raise stats to 18, an Outcast with 19 in STR, AGI, and CON has a permanent triple advantage over other races in physical stats. No other race can exceed 18 in more than one stat.
| Class | Why |
|---|---|
| Barbarian | 19 STR boosts HP per level and damage; 19 CON adds HP; +2 combat bonus stacks |
| Martial Artist | 19 AGI maximizes dodge and accuracy; 19 STR/CON for damage and HP |
| Thief | 19 AGI enhances steal, mug, and backstab; +2 combat helps melee |
| Fighter | Triple 19 physical stats plus combat bonus makes for raw melee power |
The Outcasts' mark dates back to an ancient era when the Drakkar — a powerful dragon — held dominion over the lands. Mortal traitors who bent to the Drakkar's will were branded, and their descendants carry the mark to this day. Despite this dark history, attitudes have mellowed over time, and Outcasts now move freely through the world — though many still regard them with suspicion.
