Also known as: Elf
Forest Dwellers are tall, slim humanoids with pointed ears. They are very elegant and delicate in appearance, and speak in a melodious tongue. They tend to be agile and extremely charismatic, with high intelligence. Some say when they lift their voices in song, the trees around them are apt to tremble at their beauty.
Stat Caps
Forest Dwellers are the only race that can roll 19 in Charisma — the highest possible at character creation. This makes them unique among all races.
The trade-off is a Luck cap of 17, one point below the standard 18. Since Luck influences random events, trap success, and the chance of being stripped on death, this is a meaningful sacrifice.
| Stat | Cap | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| CHA | 19 | Only race that exceeds 18 CHA |
| LCK | 17 | One below standard; hard to fix later |
| All others | 18 | Standard caps |
Character Creation Tips
- Forest Dweller is the only way to start with 19 Charisma, which reduces training costs and Hit Doc prices.
- The 17 Luck cap means you will always be slightly more vulnerable to being stripped on death and less fortunate with traps.
- Reroll until you get 17 Luck (the cap) and 19 or at least 18 Charisma.
- Their natural tendency toward high Agility, Intelligence, and Charisma makes them a natural fit for caster classes.
