Playable Races

Category: Race

There are six playable races in the Kingdom of Drakkar. Each race has unique stat caps that affect character creation and long-term development. Choosing the right race is one of the most important decisions you'll make, since Charisma and Luck are the hardest stats to raise later in the game.

Races

Race Also Known As Stat Highlights Special
City Dweller Human 18 in all stats Most balanced; safest pick
Forest Dweller Elf 19 CHA, 17 LCK Highest Charisma in the game
Mountain Dweller Dwarf 19 STR, 17 CHA Extra starting gold
Outcast Giant 19 STR/AGI/CON, 16 CHA +2 combat bonus
Underground Dweller Halfling 15 CHA, 12 LCK Most restricted caps
Woodlands Dweller Half-Elf 19 INT, 17 STR Best for mentalists

Stat Caps by Race

All races can raise stats to 18 (19 for Intelligence) using stat pots found in Nork. The caps below affect character creation rolls only — they determine how high you can roll each stat when creating or rerolling your character.

Stat City Forest Mountain Outcast Underground Woodlands
STR 18 18 19 19 18 17
AGI 18 18 18 19 18 18
CON 18 18 18 19 18 18
INT 18 18 18 18 18 19
WIS 18 18 18 18 18 18
WIL 18 18 18 18 18 18
CHA 18 19 17 16 15 18
LCK 18 17 18 18 12 18

Bold values indicate stats that differ from the standard 18 cap.

Choosing a Race

For beginners: City Dweller is the safest choice. You can roll 18 in every stat, including Charisma and Luck — the two stats that are hardest to fix later. Most veteran guides recommend City Dweller for first characters.

For min-maxers: Each non-human race trades Charisma and/or Luck caps for a 19 in one or more combat stats. Since stat pots can raise most stats to 18 later, the real question is whether a 19 in STR, INT, or AGI at creation is worth a permanently lower CHA or LCK cap.

Key principle: Reroll until you get 17-18 in Charisma and Luck. These two stats have very few ways to be raised after character creation. All other stats can be fixed with stat pots.
